2010 YOUTH RECREATION SEASON

The 2010 youth soccer season is gearing up to be another exciting summer on the pitch!  Youth soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in Canada and the FDSA is proud to be able to provide quality soccer programs to youth soccer players in the greater Fredericton Area.

Every year the FDSA looks to improve its programs based on feedback from the players and parents.  Therefore, (pending registration numbers), gender specific teams will once again be implemented for the 2010 season.  The gender specific format will continue to assist the FDSA of meeting its goal of fostering and promoting the retention of females in our sport. The FDSA believes that the gender specific format encourages more girls to continue playing soccer and develop a lasting love of the game into adulthood.

Therefore, the major highlights for the upcoming 2010 season include:

  • All Youth Soccer Programs (12U, 14U & 16/18U) will be gender specific for the 2010 season (Gender specific programs will depend on the final number of registered players for each age group and gender; Co-ed play may be required if numbers are insufficient).
  • The Youth Recreational Kick-off Tournament will be held on the second weekend of June to avoid any interference with year end exams for our youth players.
  • The Year-End Jamboree will remain status quo for this season.
  • The drafting of the teams will be similar to last season.  Teams will be selected by the FDSA staff using the player ratings collected at the end of 2009.  Players will be assigned to teams based on their skill level and every effort will be made to ensure each team receives an equal amount of players at the various skill levels, ensuring a balanced league.  For players who do not have a current rating, they will be randomly assigned to teams.  There will NOT be any modified games / evaluation prior to the start of the season.
