WELCOME TO THE 2010 MICRO SEASON

For those born in 2006 or 2007 (4U)
For those born in 2004 or 2005 (6U)

With summer fast approaching, the FDSA would like to take this opportunity to welcome all Micro soccer players and parents to another great season of fun and excitement.  We believe that a positive soccer season is one that leaves the children wanting to play again.

The season is set to begin with the teams taking the fields for their first event on Monday, May 31st (4U) and Tuesday, June 1st (6U). As in past years, games cancelled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled to Wednesday (4U) and Thursday (6U) of the same week.  The rain date time and location remain as originally scheduled.

With over 50 teams and 700+ players expected for the 2010 season, we need volunteers to coach and assist teams. Lack of experience or soccer knowledge are not to be seen as major obstacles as our simplified rules and small team sizes make it easy to learn the basics of coaching soccer.

As a coach, you will need to commit some extra time to learning your role. You will be required to attend the coaches information session on Tuesday evening, May 18th and a morning on-field Practical Training Session on Saturday, May 29th. At these sessions you will receive demonstrations and a 12-week Micro Soccer Session Plan with handouts and age-specific drills for the entire program. We also make every attempt to pair new coaches with an experienced coach to provide a mentoring situation.

Don’t have the time to commit to the entire season? Important dates for Coaches and Volunteers:

1.Micro Coaches Pre-Season Meeting:  Tuesday, May 18th:

~ 4U = 6:00pm - 7:00pm at Fredericton Inn
~ 6U = 7:00pm - 8:00pm at Fredericton Inn

2. Micro Coaches On-Field Practical Session: Saturday, May 29th:

~ 4U = 9:00am - 10:30am at FHS

~ 6U = 11:00am - 12:30pm at FHS
 

Pizza Hut Photo Nights

The format has changed slightly for 2010. Pictures will be taken on the regularly scheduled soccer night of Monday June 7th and Tuesday June 8th, with the normal rain dates. Harvey Studios will be on-site to take team and individual pictures of the players. A schedule for team-specific photo times will be created and circulated in advance.

Pizza Hut Year-End Jamboree

The jamboree marks the end of the soccer season and allows for the distribution of team medals while giving the children and parents a chance to say good-bye. The jamboree will be held on Saturday, August 14th.  Rain dates are set for Monday, August 16th (4U) and Tuesday, August 17th (6U), during the regularly scheduled time.
