President's Message

FDSA President’s Message Nov 07

As the new President for FDSA, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nick Guitard for all the hard work, passion and dedication that he has displayed over the past three years as the out going president of FDSA.  He will be remembered as a hard working supporter of FDSA who always had the best interests of all our soccer programs as his number one priority.  I wish Nick and Marlene all the best in their future.

I also want to thank Paula Tomilson who will be leaving us in December, for everything that she has done for FDSA over the past four years as the Executive Director.  She has been a driven advocate for everything soccer stands for in the Fredericton area, and she has always put forth a professional and sincere effort into everything that she been involved with.  I also want to wish Paula and Wayne all the best in their future.

At our recent AGM 07, I was very pleased to officially welcome the senior women’s team and the “old boy’s” team to the FDSA.  Both teams will be providing representation on our Board of Directors.  The addition of these two teams compliments our FDSA Club approach to promoting soccer at all of our various levels in the greater Fredericton area.

FDSA’s success in providing a first rate soccer program is entirely predicated on the commitment of our volunteers.  Every volunteer involved in our program should be extremely proud of their commitment and offering of their time, for without them, it just simply would not work.  I would also like to note that our entire Board of Directors are all volunteers.  They work extra hard all year long to ensure that the all of the details of our programs involving pre-planning, fee structure, scheduling for all of the programs, execution of the summer plans, evaluation of the summer plan, negotiations with the City for grass field usage and with University of NB for access to the Turf Chapman field are always dealt with the sole purpose of what is best for FDSA.  If you are interested in promoting the game of soccer within FDSA, then I would encourage you to volunteer for the vacant positions that are still available on the Board of Directors.

Finally, I would like to thank all of the corporate sponsors for their financial support to FDSA.  Your continued commitment in supporting the game of soccer is an investment in your community.

I wish you all the best during the festive season that will be soon upon us.  Until the Spring 08 news letter, I look forward to our planning sessions which will allow the Board of Directors to program another great year of soccer.

Think Soccer!
