4U-6U Micro Division

WELCOME TO THE 2013 MICRO SEASON

For those born in 2009 or 2010 (4U = 4 and Under)
For those born in 2007 or 2008 (6U = 6 and Under)

With summer fast approaching, FDSA welcomes all new and returning Micro soccer players and parents to another great season of fun and excitement.

The season is set to begin with the teams taking the fields for their first outing on Monday, May 27th (4U) and Tuesday, May 28th (6U). As in past years, games cancelled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled to Wednesday (4U) and Thursday (6U) of the same week, same time, same location.

With over 40 teams and 500+ players expected for the 2013 season, we need volunteers to coach and assist teams. Lack of experience or lack of soccer knowledge are not to be seen as major obstacles as our simplified rules and small team sizes make it easy to learn the basics of coaching soccer.

As a coach, you will need to commit some extra time to learning your role. You will be required to attend the coaches pre-season information session on Tuesday evening, May 14th and a morning on-field Practical Training Session on Saturday, May 25th. At these sessions you will receive demonstrations and information on an 11-week Micro Soccer Session Plan with age-specific drills for the entire season.

Don’t have the time to commit to the entire season? Keep in mind that assistant coaches will also be required in order to accommodate coach vacations or unavailability.  If interested in volunteering, contact the FDSA office at 451-1342 or email fdsa@nb.aibn.com for more information. See you on the fields!

Important dates for Coaches and Volunteers:

  • Micro Coaches Pre-Season Meeting:  Tuesday, May 14th: 4U & 6U = 6:00pm – 7:30pm at Fredericton Inn
  • Micro Coaches On-Field Practical Session: Saturday, May 25th: 4U & 6U = 9:00am – 11:00am: Scotiabank Park South (TBC).

Photo Nights

Pictures will be taken on the regularly scheduled soccer night of Monday, June 3rd and Tuesday, June 4th, with the normal rain dates. Harvey Studios will be at the field to take team and individual pictures of the players. A schedule for team-specific photo times will be created and circulated in advance. NOTE: There will be no scheduled soccer on photo night – pictures ONLY!

Year-End Jamboree

The jamboree marks the end of the soccer season and allows for the distribution of team medals while giving the children and parents a chance to say good-bye. The jamboree will be held on Saturday, August 10th.  Rain dates are set for Monday, August 12th (4U) and Tuesday, August 13th (6U), during the regularly scheduled time.

Sponsorship

FDSA would like to thank Mark Northrup of Leon’s for sponsoring the 4U division and Dr. Brian Trites (Orthodontist) for sponsoring the 6U Division.
